Mobile Service Trials Continue

Our Mobile Service Trials continue, we have designed and invested in a hydraulic ram to activate the brakes on a caravan single handed. This would normally require a second engineer. Site owners and storage sites seem very pleased that we carry out a risk assessment before we start! At the moment we are choosing who,where and when we offer a Mobile Service to.

We have also been informed this week of two local companies who display Approved Workshop Status, who in fact are not members of the scheme. Be careful, as using these companies will invalidate any warranty you may have on your caravan or motorhome. The same situation arose last week when a customer used an MCEA engineer for his caravan service. Again check that a company is an AWS member, before using them!

Last week saw the first Bailey Motorhome come off the production line. They will start to appear at dealers later this month. We cant wait to try out our demo model in December! We will also be launching our Bailey Approach Service Schedule in December. This will be something a bit special! This week (17/10) sees the start of our Mobile Service Trials. Having seen so many customer receive very poor levels of service from mobile companies, we have spent 3 months looking into the mobile service of caravans and motorhomes. In those months we have had our caravan and motorhome serviced by mobile engineers, both at our home and on site. I am still unsure if we can deliver our high standard of service via a mobile service. If the trials prove me wrong, we should launch the service in Febuary. If we do offer a mobile service it will be a premium service not currently offered by any other company in South Wales.

 Bailey of Bristol are this month conducting extensive testing of their new range of motorhomes at the Millbrook Testing Ground. Their motorhomes will tackle the Alpine route, pot holes, pave and twist humps. Having been to the proving ground on several occasions I can say it really is an amazing place. Have a look around their website here. All the new motorhomes will be coachbuilt using  the tried and tested Alu-Tech contruction methods. As the only Alu-Tech repair centre in Wales, we cant wait to see the reaction that these new Bailey Motorhomes receive from the public, press and trade.

We carry out 25-30 repairs on caravans and motorhomes that have suffered blow outs each year. They can cause significant damage to your vehicle. Summer Around The Corner. We Hope!

Our workload over Easter and the never ending Bank Holidays means this is our first post in nearly a month! Our previous post regarding Bailey Unicorns was not given to us until 17:00 on the Thursday before the Royal Wedding. At that time we were sitting in field in Lamphey, Pembroke! A hasty 'cut and paste' on the Ipad allowed us to share the information with our customers.

The weekend of 13-15th May was extremely busy at The South and West Wales Caravan and Motorhome Show. Thanks to all those that called by to see us in Carmarthen, a special thank you to those companies that supported us on our stand. Rob our rep from Grove Products, SJ looking after our One DryWash section, Simon and Justin with our TracVision stand and finally Carl from Glide Rite air suspension. Glide Rite brought their self levelling hydraulic system along. This created a lot of interest, and two orders have been placed since! How long before our competitors catch on to this superb new product?

There seems to be a surge of mobile caravan engineers on the web this year. Most using various letters of the alphabet to make a company name! Nearly all these companies operating out of a van, with a mobile number. So what did these people do before? Who are they? What do they do?
We did a little research on these companies...........the best did not remove wheels as part of an annual service, the worst was laying laminate flooring as a career in February! Like us your caravan or motorhome is a huge investment and a second home, so why have Stan in a van look after it? (he can also repair your washing machine, mower, car, tarmac the drive and build you a patio.......)

Product Recall

URGENT PRODUCT RECALL- would all owners of single axle Bailey Unicorn caravans please check the torque on their wheel bolts. They should be checked in sequence to 110NM. This recall has been issued by Bailey Caravans, please see their website for further details. We have issued an emergency help line for this extended bank holiday weekend to try and advise owners. Our Unicorn help line number is 07800 818228 for this weekend.

The Sun Is Out!

With March nearly over the Sun has made an appearance, temperatures of nearly 20 degrees has reminded us all why we love our caravan and motorhome holidays! Our local Caravan Club Centres have started their rally calender off already. West Wales will be at Llandovery for their treasure hunt this weekend (1-3 April), followed by Furnace over the weekend of 8-10th April. More details for the West Wales Centre are available on their website here. Dyfed Center will enjoy this coming weekend at the excellent Gowerton Club Site, with the following weekend being spent at Riverside, Llanedi. Full details can be found here.

This weekend we will be at The Motorhome Show in Shepton Mallet, it promises to be a big show with all the UK's major dealers exhibiting. With overnight camping all weekend and free entertainment on Friday and Saturday. Come visit us on our stand if your going!

Staying with motorhomes, its official Bailey will be producing motorhomes before the end of the year. Pre production models are already being tested in secret locations! All models will use their Alu-Tech construction.
Over the coming weeks we will have some changes to our website, we have already trialled a instant chat system. Allowing you to speak to us via the website out of hours. Whilst at the NEC last week we did      notice some very exciting new products that may have gone un-noticed. Whale have launched their IC pump range into the caravan and motorhome market. Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC

This week sees the start of the NEC show. With several new models on display and a host of new accessories being previewed. If you are planning on a visit to the NEC, we have some models and products you don't want to miss!

It does remind us of the American Airstream caravans? The Bailey stand is sure to be extremely busy!

New Bailey Alu-Tech Models and More!

Earlier this month our engineers attended an Alu-Tech body work course at Bailey Caravans. Our engineers assisted in removing and replacing two complete sides. In many respects body work on Alu-Tech caravans is much easier than classic builds. If you know what your doing!!

Due to the complex nature of the Alu-Tech build very few workshops will be authorised to undertake any bodywork on Alu-Tech caravans. We are therefore extremely pleased that Bailey have chosen Carafit to be their Alu-Tech Repair Centre for Wales.

Later this month sees the NEC show, Bailey will have their Ranger replacement on show. The ORION, the fourth model in the Alu-Tech line up. Very interesting caravan, Bailey have resisted building a stripped down OLYMPUS. Opinions may be divided on the ORION design, its sure to be a talking point!

Latest rumours of Baileys new Pegasus S2 and budget Alu-Tech models are doing the rounds! Bailey are set to launch their budget Alu-Tech models at the NEC in Febuary, with a range set below the popular Olympus. We have seen some of the design ideas already, but been sworn to secrecy. More details will be available later this month.
Our bodyshop engineers have been invited to Bailey for training on the removal and re-fitting of Alu-Tech exterior mouldings. Carafit being one of only a handful of workshops in the UK being allowed to do such work. We are extremely grateful to Bailey for the invite, and wish our engineers an enjoyable day.
